From classic cornrows to large box braids, Black braid styles range from purely functional to symbolic. But hair braiding or threading is not just hair styling—the craft is a form of art. And the braid shop itself serves as a pillar for the Black community, a sanctuary of safety, and as a core piece of Black beauty.

In this second installation, we’re paying homage to and celebrating the beautiful Black spaces that have become cultural staples in our neighborhoods. The spaces that allow us to just be.

Knight does an impeccable job incorporating every detail she remembers observing as a child. Explore and enjoy!
